Process Engineer
You will own the biological and process side of a working bio-CNG plant — feedstock through digestion, upgrading and off-take. The job is equally at the desk and on the deck: modelling what the plant should do, then standing in front of it working o
What you will do
- Run mass and energy balances across digestion, upgrading and bio-fertiliser recovery, and keep them honest against what the plant actually meters.
- Set and tune co-digestion ratios, organic loading rates and retention times for the feedstocks a site can realistically get hold of.
- Investigate upsets — foaming, souring, a methane yield that has quietly drifted — and close them out with a change that holds.
- Specify and commission process equipment with the EPC contractors, and sign off the performance tests.
- Write the operating envelope the plant team works to, and train them on it.
What we ask for
- A degree in Chemical, Biochemical, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.
- Three to six years on a process plant — biogas, water treatment, refining or similar. Anaerobic digestion experience is the short cut, not the requirement.
- Comfort with process simulation, and with a spreadsheet you built yourself.
- Willingness to be on site: this role does not work from a desk alone.
What we offer
- Ownership of a whole process line rather than one unit operation of it.
- Commissioning experience on new plants as the portfolio grows.
- Health cover for you and your dependants, and a training budget you are expected to spend.
